Peter C. DiGangi is a retired Circuit Justice of the Massachusetts Probate and Family Court, having spent his last two years in Essex County. Previously, he served as the First Justice of the Middlesex Probate and Family Court for six years. He was initially appointed as Associate Justice to the Probate and Family Court Department for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 2001 by Governor Jane Swift.

Judge DiGangi received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from Defiance College and went on to the New England School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor in 1973.

Prior to his appointment, Judge DiGangi worked as an assistant distant attorney in Brooklyn, New York and then moved onto private practice in the North Shore area of Massachusetts. He served as house and trial counsel of the North Shore Chapter, Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children for fourteen years. His last professional association was as a partner of DiGangi & Legasey, P.C.

Judge DiGangi is a member of the Massachusetts, Boston, Essex County and Salem Bar Associations, the National Italian-American Bar Association, and the Massachusetts Family and Probate Inn of Court, and a former Fellow of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Lawyers. He is a past Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and a former president of the Justinian Law Society.

He is a recipient of the Congressional Angels of Adoption Award, the 2012 Jurist of the Year Award, the 2013 Public Service Award presented by the Middlesex County Bar Association and the 2014 Justice Award presented by the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts Order Sons of Italy in America. He has been a guest lecturer to many bar association programs and has judged moot court competitions in China and Cambodia.

Judge DiGangi is now Of Counsel to the firm of DDSK Law in Beverly, where his practice is limited to mediation, arbitration, and case evaluation.
